The Resource Center has moved! Now open at our new location!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you – The SEP Team

The cornerstone of all of SEP’s work is the Daly Ralston Resource Center, a lending library of materials to support hands-on health and science teaching. The Resource Center is open to all SFUSD teachers and UCSF volunteers in SFUSD. Our collection of thousands of items includes:

  • over 120 wet human anatomical specimens
  • animal skulls of 50 different species
  • classroom sets of compound and dissecting microscopes
  • anatomical models
  • sets of scientific equipment
  • curricula and activity guides

At the Resource Center, scientific equipment is stocked in sets of 20, so that even in large classes, students can work on science investigations in pairs. We also have “kits” – basically a “lesson-in-a-box” that includes all the materials you would need to complete a lesson with your entire class.

Visit the Resource Center:

Access to the Resource Center is free and open to all SFUSD teachers, regardless of whether they are participants in other SEP programs. The Resource Center is also free and open to all UCSF students, staff and faculty volunteering in schools, community centers, and at community events, regardless of whether they are participating in an SEP sponsered activity.

Visiting our new location:

To Access the Resource Center at 654 Minnesota, please use the main entrance on Minnesota, where you can call the Resource Center by pushing the button labeled Resource Center -164.  Your call will be directed to the Resource Center where someone can then buzz you into the building.

From there, head straight back on the first floor, along the right side of the staircase, once in the hallway look for the sign sign on the left side of the Hallway that says Suite 164 – UCSF Science and Health Education Partnership – Resource Center.  Once at the door please knock and a staff member will open the door and greet you.

We hope to return to normal fall resource center school year hours in late September of 2022: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 3:00 pm-5:30 pm or by appointment.

Summer Hours: By Appointment Only

The Resource Center is closed during SFUSD breaks and on SFUSD and UCSF holidays.

Returning materials:

You can return materials to the Resource Center any time the office is open (generally M – F, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm).

How does it work?

The Resource Center is staffed by SEP science educators who will help you identify and check out materials, and can give you assistance with planning lessons. You do not need an appointment to visit during the Resource Center’s open hours. On your first visit, allow time for us to introduce you to the materials available and our check-out procedures.

Browse for materials in our online catalog. You can reserve materials by phone or in person.

The loan period for materials is normally one week (two weeks for curriculum materials). During peak periods of use (February through April), loan periods may be shorter. At other times, and depending on the item, you may be able to borrow materials for a longer time.

We look forward to your visit!
