THE BAY AREA SCIENCE FESTIVAL IS TAKING A BREAK IN 2023
The Bay Area Science Festival is a 10 Day, annual celebration of science with dozens of events stretching from Santa Rosa to San Jose. This festival does for science what other festivals do for film, literature, painting, and music: it engages attention, inspires interest, and fires imagination across entire communities by offering large numbers of activities and events during a short period of time.
Led by UCSF SEP in collaboration with scientific, cultural, and educational institutions, the Festival provides a wide range of activities – behind the scenes tours, performances, talks, free family science days, and more– at locations throughout the Bay Area. We seek to celebrate the Bay Area’s scientific wonders, resources, and opportunities by exploring the role of science, engineering, and technology locally & in the world.
Each year, more than 50,000 people attend Festival events.

Discovery Days
Discovery Days bring the fun and excitement of science to a huge crowd. In conjunction with local science outreach groups, we host Discovery Days at Oracle Park in San Francisco and Cal State East Bay, bringing hundreds of hands-on-activities to families.
